Scan copies of the front and back of the contents of your wallet (credit cards, etc.) and keep in a safe place or give it to a trusted person when traveling. If your wallet gets stolen, there will be a copy of each item and the phone numbers to customer service to cancel the credit cards.

A money belt worn flatly under shirt is safer, convenient and less conspicuous than a bulging wallet, pocketbook or wristlet. It eases anxiety of robbery when trying to relax in foreign city.

Always keep your passport on your person. Do not have your companion carry it. I had a case where a couple got separated on a train and both ended up in different countries. The wife had both passports in her purse. It took the husband two days to catch up with the wife due to red tape, and no passport.
